Maseru, May 07 — Although the National University of Lesotho (NUL) collaborated with the Lesotho Nursing Council in the institutionalisation of Bachelor of Nursing Science through open distance learning, the programme is due to be accredited by Council on Higher Education (CHE).
This was said by the Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development Mr. Pitso Lesaoana on behalf of Education when responding to the question of a Member of Parliament, Mrs. Mamoipone Senauoane with regard to the above mentioned matter, in the National Assembly on Thursday.
Mr. Lesaoana said the programme is already before CHE for quality assurance and a certificate of accreditation would be issued once the qualification is approved.
“We anticipate the process might take three months with the assistance of local and international experts,” he said.
He also indicated that so far 63 learners have completed the programme, 40 have been enrolled in first year, 45 second year and 59 third year.
Meanwhile, the programme was launched in 2022 at NUL.
