Beijing, Sept. 30 — In the world driven by technological breakthroughs, Beijing city, China has taken a center stage to unveil solutions for the global challenges with rapid development of humanoid robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and smart manufacturing.
This unfolded during the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area or also known as Beijing-E-Town exhibition whereby on display were the latest technological innovations ranging from humanoid robotics, self-driving cars, smart manufacturing equipment, medical equipment and others.
Among the emerging companies which crazed the exhibitions is Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center (BHRIC), founded in 2023 which also created a robot named “Embodied Tiangong” that participated in the Beijing 21km Yizhuang Half Marathon and Humanoid Robot Half Marathon and claimed a victory after running for 2 hours :40 minutes and 42 seconds (2:40:42) and thus breaking the world record.
BHRIC Head of Public Relations Center Mr. Jiaxing Wei remarked that this technological breakthrough transcends the limitations of traditional robotic motion and lays the technical foundation for a range of operational scenarios, including industrial and logistics.
“The robot has fully demonstrated its “embodied natural” athletic ability, its autonomous adaptability in complex environments, and its stability, and reliability in long-term operation, providing solid support for future large-scale industrial applications”, he highlighted.
He further said in terms of best use, at the first World Humanoid Robot Games, it has achieved outstanding results in three areas: material sorting in various areas of production, material handling, and serving at hotel receptions and luggage handling services.
“The humanoid robotics, it deeply empowers applications in multiple fields, including industry, logistics, specialized operations, manufacturing, commerce, and the home, effectively driving a leap in new-quality productivity”, he explained.
On the other hand, the invention of robots has also the mixed reactions among people that they are going to constitute to high unemployment rate, China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) Director Professor Yu Lei argued that robots will never replace human beings, but they are there to make their jobs easier and to facilitate them in executing their duties on the most dangerous hard and demanding works.
Also showcasing its products was Pony. ai an automobile company founded in 2016 specializing on mass production of commercial self-driving cars aiming to fundamentally transform the future of transportation with vehicles which are specially designed with remote sensors to provide passenger’s safety on the road.
The Pony.ai has strategically deployed three major business lines: autonomous ride-hailing services (Robotaxi), autonomous truck logistics (Robotruck), and technology licensing and application services. It stands as one of the very few companies globally to achieve regular fully driverless operations.
Meanwhile, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area or Beijing E-Town, was established in 1992 and approved as a national level economic-technological development area in 1994.
Beijing E-Town focuses on the needs of enterprises, strengthening its teams and pooling resources to create a distinctive “industrial business ecosystem” with E-Town characteristics that has established a sound industrial organization system that integrates science and technology industry coordination departments, and systematically enhanced specialized organizational and service capabilities for industries. Second, it has improved the industrial innovation service system.
