YOUTH IN COURT FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF DRUGS

Maseru, Aug. 09 — A 21 year-old Thapelo Sehoholo of Lithabaneng is reported to have appeared before the Maseru Magistrate court on charges of illegal possession of dagga estimated weight of over 10 kilograms.

According to Lance Sergeant (L/Sgt) Tlhaole of the Public Order Policing (POP) unit within the Lesotho Mounted Police Service, the said accused is reported to have been apprehended by the police during their night patrols that were carried out on the night of July, 30 near the Nurses Health Training College (NHTC).

He showed that one of the co-accused in this matter was released during the investigations as there was no information linking him to this matter.

L/Sgt Tlhaole mentioned that the said accused was issued a fine of M1000 of which half of it was suspended and was released on a fine of M500.00

Meanwhile, the Head of the Juvenile Training Centre (JTC) has previously revealed great worry on the number of children being taken into the centre in connection with criminal activities which are mentioned to be provoked by substance abuse.
