Qacha’s Nek, Jan.19 — In a bid to improve wool and mohair production and enhance household livelihoods, Southern Mountains Association for Rural Transformation and Development (SMARTD) embarked on a three-day training of 35 farmers.
The training started on Wednesday and ends today. Of these number of participants, 31 were men while four were young women.
In an interview with the Agency, Mr. Fako Fako, Program Manager of SMARTD said the aim was to provide wool and mohair farmers with information and understanding on proper nutrition to avoid diseases that can be caused by poor nutrition, fertilisation and small stock business as a whole.
He said the realisation that the small stock in shows does not meet international and national standards forced them to train farmers hoping for an improvement. . .
