CAR STONING LANDS 25 YEAR-OLD IN COURT

Botha-Bothe, Nov. 19 — Ts’epo Letlela (25) of Ha Rasekila, Koaring, appeared before the Botha-Bothe Magistrate Court on Wednesday charged with malicious damage to property after allegedly stoning a vehicle.

Magistrate Manyefolo Ramakhula informed the accused that he is charged with contravening Section 72 of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010.

According to the charge sheet, on November 17 Letlela allegedly damaged a Mazda CX-5 belonging to Mats’epo Lebetla by throwing stones at it. The attack reportedly resulted in a broken right taillight, rear windscreen and rear bumper.

Magistrate Ramakhula told the court that the accused will undergo psychiatric evaluation before the case proceeds. Letlela is expected to return to court on December 3.

While addressing the court, Letlela apologised for his actions and admitted that he smokes dagga.

He further stated that he sometimes hears a voice whispering in his ear, causing him to lose control and act in ways he does not understand.
