CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION MORE COSTLY

Climate experts say if a country does not put in place climate adaptation measures, it is likely

to lose more money in mitigation.

Mrs. ‘Marealeboha Boutu, a Meteorologist says it is more cost-effective to implement

adaptation measures than to wait for mitigation time, pointing out that things such as

infrastructure needs to meet climate change adaptation needs.

She says these measures are stipulated in the 2017 National Climate Change Policy in the

policy statements, noting that the Enhanced Transparency Framework is in place to help track

records of progress in different ministries and in the private sector in a bit to strengthen
