COMMITTEE URGES FOR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Maseru, Jan. 21 — Although the last cleaning campaign was a success, there is a need to
create more awareness on the importance of a clean environment to promote active
participation of communities.

These transpired during Maseru District Operation Hloekisa Lesotho committee meeting held
in Maseru on Tuesday to analyse successes and challenges faced in the last cleaning
campaign as well as to prepare for the next campaign.

Speaking at the meeting, Maseru District Environment Officer Mr. Lets’oara Ramone said
they had heard that some members of the public say they will not engage in the cleaning
campaign as they already pay for garbage collection in their communities.
