Mohale’s Hoek, Dec. 06 — The Chairperson of the District Child Protection Team, (DCPT) Sub-Inspector Tefo Kopeli has confirmed that the team has been to Phamong to create awareness amid the 16 Days Of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.
Sub-Inspector Kopeli stated this in an interview with the Agency by indicating that they held a public gathering educating communities about early childhood marriage, child labour, child birth registration, violation of human rights now that a horticulture project is about to commence, asserting they even had talks with herd boys regarding the same issues.
He concluded by articulating that the team also trained 20 Peer Educators who will play a major role in disseminating messages of domestic violence during regular public gatherings in communities.
On the other hand, Phamong Councillor Mr. Molefi Putsoane, noted the awareness came at the time when he had just met with the youth, to discuss issues they are not comfortable discussing with parents.
