DELAYED LOCAL PURCHASE PAYMENTS TO BE DISBURSED – MATETE

Thaba Tseka Oct. 12 — Payments for local farmers whose payments have been delayed are still being compiled and will get paid once the work is done.

This was stated in an interview with the Agency on Thursday by the District Disaster Manager, Ms. Nthomeng Matete.

According to Ms. Matete, the first batch of disbursements was done a few weeks ago.

This follows a complain from local farmers in places like Makunyapane, Sehonghong that they have not been paid by the government.

She said about five of them have not been paid in Linakeng community council.

Asked if they adhered to the regulation that stated everyone should give the correct mobile numbers bearing the names, she said she provided all her details.

When the local purchase was conducted, all the clients were informed that they will not get their payments if the do not bring a National Identity, mobile numbers registered with mobile phone or bank accounts.

Reports indicate that close to M1 million is to be paid to the local farmers in the district

The local purchase program happened in August 2023 where the district through Food Management Unit and Disaster Management Authority with the assistance of District Disaster Management Team worked in collaboration to purchase the beans.
