Quthing, Oct. 17 — The Deputy Prime Minister, Adv. Nthomeng Majara, officially launched the national Measles and Rubella (MR) Immunization Campaign by vaccinating an under‑five child at an event held at Sekhonyana Primary School near St. Matthew’s Health Clinic in the Mount Moorosi constituency on Thursday.
The vibrant event featured songs and dramas by village health workers, primary school pupils, and children from Early Childhood Care and Development Centres (ECCD). It was held four days before the national five‑day MR vaccination campaign, which is scheduled to start from Monday next week.
Addressing attendees, Adv. Majara said the government, together with health partners, is committed to protecting Basotho children from vaccine‑preventable diseases and expressed gratitude to partners for their support in the effort to eliminate MR in the country for a healthier, more prosperous future.
She called on parents and guardians, village health workers, health personnel, community leaders, and the media to join hands to make the campaign a success.
