DHMT ON AFRICA VACCINATION WEEK

Maseru, Apr. 17 — As part of efforts to strengthen Primary Health Care (PHC) Maseru District Health Management Team (DHMT) will commemorate Africa Vaccination Week from April 29 to May 03.

Primary Health Care (PHC) is the first step in the provision of health care. It entails services such as immunisation, family planning, antenatal care, and treatment of common diseases, treatment and management of Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS counselling, amongst other services.

Africa Vaccination Week is celebrated in the last week of April, and aims to highlight the collective action needed to ensure that every person is protected from vaccine preventable diseases.

Maseru District Medical Officer (DMO), Dr. Moseme Makhele said that the aim of the week is to ensure the vaccination of children under five years across the country to protect them from various ailments saying that in Maseru district such services will be available in all health centres.
