DISTRICT FORESTER  CONCERNED OVER BURNING OF FORESTS

Quthing,  August 30 — The Quthing District Forester, Mr. Kananelo Thamae has raised concern over burning of forest trees in the district.

In an interview with the Agency, Mr. Thamae from the District Department of Environment, Forestry, Range Management and Soil Conservation said the concern follows ongoing burning of  forest trees at different areas of the district.

He said that burning of trees is mostly caused by herdboys who burn pastures intentionally claiming that they want grass to regrow green for their animals and the fire burns grass together with the forests as there is grass where there are forests.

He further said other reasons for burning trees are people that burn fire near forests and the fire blow to the forests due to strong winds.
