DISTRICT IN DIRE NEED OF RESOURCES

Mafeteng, Jan.21 — Heads of Department from various government ministries have expressed concern over shortage of transport, resources, office space and lack of staff of which they said contributed negatively towards  service delivery.

The concerns were raised during a one-day meeting of Heads of Departments with local Members of the National Assembly on Tuesday where they said their main duties need transport to move from one place to another.

On the other hand the Assistant Officer Commanding Mafeteng Police Senior Inspector Tuba Moloi from the Lesotho Mounted Police Service applauded the government of Lesotho for providing them with transport even though most cars are used within areas with tarred roads to sustain their protection, saying they have only one vehicle used to attend to scene of crime within hard to reach areas.

He highlighted that Mafeteng has been well known for criminal cases of murder as a result of fight and conflicts brought by Famo and traditional groups music where he said the issue has become a history as they are only dealing with minor murder cases, requesting the government to support them with more police posts making an example of Matelile Police Post which is policing more than 400 villages. . .
