Maseru, Jan.22 — One of the inmates at the Maseru Central Prison was slaughtered to death by another one on Tuesday this week.
This was confirmed by the Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Pheko Ntobane in an interview on Wednesday morning where he said the deceased and the accused each had his own cell, but the former went into the latter’s cell.
He said they have not established the cause of this but explained that in his statement, the accused who has mental problems indicated that he was defending himself as the deceased attacked him.
However, he stated that this is not the first time that the accused killed somebody saying that he murdered his own father and another suspect at Teya-Teyaneng Police station holding cell some years back.
