RED CROSS TO OPEN FIFTH SUB-BRANCH IN HA KOALI

Berea, June 25 — The Lesotho Red Cross Society in Berea District will officially open a new sub-branch at Ha Koali on Saturday, making it the fifth active sub-branch in the district.

Speaking in an interview with the Agency, Senior Development Officer Mr. Tšokoliso Mothibeli said the initiative was driven by local volunteers who expressed interest in establishing a sub-branch in the area.

He said volunteers were motivated to form the sub-branch because they already have a site where they plan to undertake a tree-planting project, adding that Red Cross volunteers are encouraged to initiate community projects while the organisation provides support and guidance.

Meanwhile, Youth Chairperson Ms. Nyane Manko said the opening ceremony will also include distribution of clothing, shoes and sanitary towels to vulnerable residents.

She said the donation aims to celebrate the opening of the sub-branch while assisting people in need during the winter season, adding that beneficiaries were identified in collaboration with local leadership.

The Lesotho Red Cross Society in Berea District collaborates closely with local communities to provide support and relief to vulnerable groups through various initiatives.
