MAN BEHIND BARS FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

Mafeteng, August 15 — The Mafeteng Magistrate Court has sentenced a 25 year old Tsepo Lerata of Ha Ramokhele to three years imprisonment or pay a fine of M3,000 for theft common and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to the evidence led before court the convict on April 02, 2025 stole a pump action of his colleague. 

It showed that the complainant Folere Nkheche (45) of Thaba-Tsoeu was on night duty being security guard with the convict and fell asleep hence he got the chance to take the firearm and hide it somewhere, adding that he later took it in the morning when they lock-off.

In mitigation he pleaded guilty to the charge asking court to give him a lenient punishment since as he is the breadwinner taking care of his family and parents.
