BAP WOES FAR FROM OVER

Maseru, Jan. 16 — Woes within the Basotho Action Party (BAP) seem to be far from over as the leader of the party Professor  Nqosa Mahao has appealed against a recent decision of the High Court which is in favour of the suspended Deputy Leader of the party Mr. Motlatsi Maqelepo.

The High Court had on Tuesday ruled that  it has jurisdiction to determine interim reliefs even when there is objection against its jurisdiction due to the exigencies of the matter. It interdicted and restrained the BAP and its Disciplinary Committee from proceeding with the disciplinary hearing against Mr. Maqelepo.

The court had come to the conclusion after Mr. Maqelepo together with Mr. Tello Kibane, a Parliamentary Caucus member  filed an application in which they challenged a disciplinary hearing they were facing.

However, they were dismissed by the party’s Central Executive Committee which later reviewed the verdict and suspended them for seven years.
