DMA LAUNCHES GRAINS PURCHASING

Qacha’s Nek, July.19 — Food Management Unit (FMU) has today received 16 bags of 50kg beans from local farmers as the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) launched food for work programme.

The two weeks programme will run from July 19 (today) to August 04 and each farmer is expected to sell at least 100 bags.

Speaking with the Agency, Mrs. ‘Marethabile Hoodi, Warehouse Assistant said three farmers came through – one sold six bags, the second two while the third brought eight bags.

“I was expecting to see a lot of farmers but since it is the first day today, I am still hopefully that tomorrow they will come in huge numbers,” she said. . . .
