LOW TURN OUT OF VACCINATION AGAINST MEASLES, RUBELLA IN BEREA

Berea, July 19 — Despite social mobilization campaigns to fully immunize children against measles rubella, Berea district vaccination turn out is still low as only a total of 2887 children out of the targeted population of 13, 864 were vaccinated.

This was disclosed by Child Health Officer Ms. Malehano Ramatutu during the District Immunization Steering Committee (DISC) meeting staged at the District Health Management Team (DHMT) boardroom on Wednesday.

Ms. Ramatutu said the vaccination catch up campaign was conducted from May 15 to 21 with the aim to administer childhood growth vaccines for those who missed them and as well as the measles rubella vaccine and with this regard the district recorded at least 21 percent of vaccination coverage out of their set target of 95 percent, while the last campaign was 43 percent. . .
