DPM REFUTES DPP DISMISSAL ALLEGATIONS

Maseru, Apr. 14 — The Deputy Prime Minister and also the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Justice Nthomeng Majara has refuted allegations that she wants the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to be dismissed from work.

This, she said in an interview with the Agency, following allegations trending on social media, which indicate that she wants the DPP gone.

Justice Majara said she has never in any forum of the coalition government or cabinet talked about the DPP with regard to this matter.

“I have never expressed a wish, order or advice regarding dismissal of the DPP thus it is not true” she stressed.

She also said she worked closely and peacefully with the DPP and cannot in any way say she has anything against her.

Efforts to talk to the DPP Advocate Hlalefang Motinyane with regard to this matter were unsuccessful.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is responsible to prosecute criminal cases on behalf of the King/Crown at the Subordinate Courts, High Court and Court of Appeal.
