Berea, May 18 — As concerns over foot-and-mouth disease continue, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Berea District is set to conduct a roadshow in Teya-teyaneng on May 20 to educate farmers on prevention and early detection measures.
Livestock Area Technical Officer Ms Itumeleng Lekhafola Masupha said the roadshow aims to raise awareness about FMD and strengthen farmers’ knowledge on how to manage and protect their livestock from the disease.
She added that the initiative will also highlight the dangers of FMD and provide practical guidance to farmers on proper livestock handling to help prevent the spread of infection.
Ms Masupha further said that officials will display large awareness posters carrying key messages about FMD prevention and control during the campaign.
The awareness campaign will start at the veterinary clinic and proceed to the Teya-teyaneng Youth Centre, where farmers are expected to engage with agricultural experts.
