Maseru, Jul. 12 — Coordinator for the Basotho Culture and Food Tasting Festival Advocate Makhetha  Motsoari says the festival which is scheduled for August 30- September 01 2024 will help boost tourism in the country.

Speaking at a media briefing held in Maseru on Friday, he stated that the event is significant as it coincides with the 200 years celebration of the foundation of the Basotho nation. He indicated that it serves as a unifying event for Basotho who will celebrate their shared heritage and culture. He added that it promotes social cohesion and national pride thus strengthening collective identity as Basotho.

He emphasised that the event will provide an opportunity for Basotho to rediscover and celebrate their culinary heritage through food tasting. He said traditional dishes and ingredients will help educate and reconnect the people with their gastronomic roots, fostering appreciation for the national cuisine.
