FNCO URGES FOR COLLABORATION

Maseru, Oct.02 — Regional Food and Nutrition Coordinating Officer Ms. Nteboheleng Mothae strongly urged stakeholders to collaborate for improvement of nutrition status in the country.

She said this during the ongoing three day meeting on dissemination of National Food and Nutrition documents to food and nutrition stakeholders held in Maseru.

The nutrition documents include Lesotho Food and Nutrition Policy, National Food and Nutrition Strategy and Lesotho Zero Hunger Strategic Review.

She said the meeting is aimed at sensitizing and disseminating these national documents at district level thus equipping stakeholders with information so that they can also participate in implementing nutrition interventions.

She said nutrition is not only FNCO responsibility saying it concerns all stakeholders citing that poor nutrition result in a number of deformities including stunting which she said is about 37 percent in the country.

She said that it is important for different ministries to understand to understand their mandate or role they have to play in building linkages and harmonizing service delivery on food and nutrition issues.

She emphasized that stakeholders should increase collaboration and prioritise nutrition education in their ministerial activities.

She stated that nutrition related challenges will thus be addressed from community to district as well as national level.

Meanwhile in February this year, President and Chief Executive of Nutrition International (NI) Mr. Joel Spicer handed over report of a fact finding mission of the NI team that was carried out in September 2024 to King Letsie III. . . .
