HARVESTING PELARGONIUM SIDOIDES WITHOUT LICENSE IS ILLEGAL

Mohale’s Hoek, Mar. 03 — The District Environment Officer in the Ministry of Forestry and Environment Mr. Relebohile Ramokoatsi says those who are harvesting and selling Pelargonium Sidoides commonly known as Khoara without proper licenses will face the full hand of the law.

Mr. Ramokoatsi stated this in an interview with the Agency following a recent incident in which trucks bearing RSA plate numbers were spotted at various villages of Senqunyane Community Council buying Khoara from villagers in multiple bags.

The latter articulated that natural resources need to be utilized in a sustainable way so that they are given time to regenerate, noting that it is about time the Ministry shed some light about the benefits of Khoara by convening workshops to various stakeholders.
