Maseru, Aug. 07 — The Minister of Health, Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane, has expressed serious concern over the ongoing poor service delivery that some Basotho continue to receive from health professionals in certain health facilities across the country.
This follows a viral video recorded by a young Mosotho, which captured the substandard service he received at a public hospital on Tuesday night.
In an interview with the Agency on Thursday, Mr. Mochoboroane said the video circulating on social media reflects the broader issues plaguing service delivery in the country’s health care system.
He pointed out that, despite the government’s provision of medical equipment and human resources to many health centres nationwide, the quality of service remains unsatisfactory in some areas.
This, he said, indicates an urgent need for a new strategy to ensure improved service delivery for the benefit of all Basotho.
However, the Minister also took time to commend those health care centres that continue to deliver quality services, ensuring that Basotho have access to health care without undue difficulty.
Currently, four health care centres have been reported to be offering substandard services to the public.
