Qacha’s Nek, Oct.15—In a move that brought smiles and relief to many families, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police delivered 72 birth certificates to residents of Mosafeleng on Wednesday.
The initiative forms part of the Equitable Lesotho (Ntlafatsa Bana) project, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), which works to ensure that every child is officially recognized and can access essential services in the Nts’upe Council.
In an interview with the Agency, Home Affairs Registration Officer for Sehlabathebe, Mr. Atang Lepheana, explained that 38 of the certificates belonged to residents of Ha Sepechele, while 34 were issued to people from Ha Matapole, Patising.
In Ha Sepechele, seven children under five years (three boys and four girls), 14 children aged six to sixteen (eight boys and six girls), and 17 adults aged seventeen to forty-three (three males and fourteen females) received their certificates.
