Xinjiang, Oct. 16 — With many countries struggling to contain the land degradation, Xinjiang Province in China is among the places which has successfully transformed from desert into a productive land after the implementation of ecological protection mechanisms.
Amid the environmental life-threatening challenges such as desertification, today one of Xinjiang province places, Aksu has emerged as a major city renowned for its forestry, fruit industry and eco-friendly parks whereby all the afforestation projects are carried out with careful ecological consideration.
Among the group of society in Aksu which continue to rip the benefits of ecological protection includes Fengqingyuan Farmers’ Cooperative Apple, whereby during a guided tour of global south journalists to the farm, it’s General Manager Mr. Yao Shilin revealed that over 70 years ago, their place was on the brink of being engulfed by desertification, but the government worked tirelessly with land rehabilitation activities to combat it.
Mr. Shilin stressed that through the ecological civilization, they ventured into apple tree farming whereby in the past, they used to grow crops individually and independently, without any unified technical guidance, but on their own experience and intuition.
