IEC EMPOYEE IN JAIL FOR THEFT

Maseru, Aug 16  — The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) employee is awaiting trial in jail for alleged theft of the Commission’s funds according to Director of Elections Advocate Mpaiphele Maqutu.

Adv. Maqutu said this at his media briefing held at the Commission’s boardroom on Wednesday.

The Director of Elections said the IEC suspect has already appeared in court where he faces charges of theft and was instructed to pay a surety of M20 000 plus a bail of M3000 but failed to pay them and is awaiting trial in prison.

He identified his name as Molefi Maqaleha but could not disclose the amount he is alleged to have stolen.
