ADMISSION FREE, VOLUNTARY-COURT

Maseru, Aug.16— The High Court through Justice Tseliso Mokoko has on Wednesday, in a case in which Qamo Matela is charged with the murder of his wife Mahlompho Matela, born Rethabile Mofolo, ruled that an admission obtained from the accused by the police was free and voluntary.

The ruling was made in a trial within trial whereby the court was trying to establish the admissibility of the admission made by the accused at the Mabote Police in relation to the death of his wife. This was after the defence stated that the admission was not made freely and voluntarily because the accused was under duress when he made it.
