Maseru, Jan. 24 — Journalists and students in secondary and tertiary schools have been presented with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) awards by Ministers of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), and Education and Training (MOET).
The winners were in Television production, print, and radio, and essay writing for students, both in secondary schools and institutions of higher learning, with their stories focusing on the SADC regional integration and economic growth.

In her statement, Minister MICSTI Ms. Nthati Moorosi said the day is meant to celebrate excellence both in media and academia, noting that media plays a role in shaping the country.
She reaffirmed the pivotal role that the media is playing both regionally and nationally.
Elaborating further, the Minister observed that the main role of the media is to keep the nation on the loop about what is going on around them especially at this era of misinformation and disinformation. . .
