LCE STUDENTS PROTEST AGAINST INCREASE IN FEES

Maseru,Apr.06– Students from the Lesotho College of Education are currently on strike, protesting against sudden increases in tuition fee  and claims by the school that they owe M5000 each, a sum reportedly not covered by the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS).

The controversy erupted when the college administration announced an increase in tuition fees, attributing the hike to insufficient funding for student learning equipment.

In an interview with the Agency, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) president, Mr Mabote Ralethoko said the increase was not communicated to students in advance, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and disbelief among the student body.
