Mohale’s Hoek, June 12 — Following an incident in which the roofing of the National Identity and Civil Registry’s (NICR) office roofing caved inside the building, the District Administrator Ms. Moleboheng Lebele has saved the day by providing a hall for officers to operate from.
In an interview with the Agency, DA stated that this is done so that Majantja could still access services while the owner of the building is carrying out maintenance, which she noted could take about a month, and acknowledged that it would indeed be costly for civilians to go to Mafeteng to get services.
Meanwhile the Agency has learned from a reliable source that officers accept proper documents needed for death certificate registrations and deliver them to NICR offices in Mafeteng where after printing, they are brought back to the DA’s office for collection by relevant individuals, and the transport is also supplied to the DA.
The source further stated that people who want to register birth certificates are being sent straight to Mafeteng, or advised to wait until the NICR’s office building has been fully maintained, which according to the source could take more than a month, while internet restoration could also take another month.
