Leribe April 08 — In celebration of Moshoeshoe’s Day, observed annually on March 12, the Ramela Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, will host the Moshoeshoe’s Day Horse Race on April 18 at Peka Race Course in Leribe under the Department of Sports.
This was revealed by Senior Sports Officer for Leribe, Ms. Motsejoa Ntsane, in an interview with the Agency on Wednesday.
Ms. Ntsane explained that the purpose of the event is to support horse riders and owners in Lesotho by fostering greater passion for the sport while also providing financial support.
She added that the event has been funded to the tune of M600,000.00, which will be distributed among the winners accordingly.
Ms. Ntsane noted that horse riders from both Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa will compete in flat and triple races.
She further stated that the event was first held last year. Tickets for this year’s race will be sold as follows: General access at M200.00, VIP at M1,500.00, and VVIP at M2,500.00.
Among the preparations required for the event, Ms. Ntsane mentioned the need for a water tank, a grader to level the race course, as well as health and security services to ensure its success.
The event will also feature entertainment from various artists.
The Moshoeshoe’s Day Horse Race is held annually.
