LESOTHO CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY

Maseru, Sept 14 — Lesotho joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Literacy Day (ILD) at an event held in Maseru on Thursday.

The event, celebrated in line with the theme “Promoting Literacy for a World in Transition: Building the Foundation for Sustainable and Peaceful Society”, saw the presence of stakeholders in non-formal education.

Officiating this event on behalf of the Education Minister, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Curriculum and Assessment Dr. Makhube Ralenkoane related to literacy as many ways in which people use to communicate. “Literacy is not about speaking and writing only”. He said.
