LESOTHO CELEBRATES OPEN ACCESS WEEK

Maseru, Oct.25 — Lesotho joined the rest of the globe in celebrating the International Open Access Week in Maseru under the theme; Community over Commercialization.

The event is organized by Lesotho Library Consortium (LELICO) with its membership being university libraries, college and polytechnic libraries, national libraries and special libraries.

On behalf of the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation Mr. Khiba Masiu, Director of ICT said that Open access (OA) means free access to information and unrestricted use of electronic resources for everyone saying any kind of digital content can be OA, from texts and data to software, audio, video, and multi-media.

He said that with Open Access, research will be freely available to colleagues, researchers and other interested parties all over the world saying this is the potential for more people to see and download research.
