Maseru, Feb. 05 — Lesotho is likely to face the highest unemployment rate ever following the US President cutting off aid to countries.
This is according to the local Economist Mr. Moeti Mothibeli.
He said that if the US does not change its stance, unemployment is going to be extremely high saying that cutting off aid to South Africa will impact badly on Lesotho as it relies on the former for almost everything.
He explained that there are Basotho working in different projects or organizations funded by the US in both South Africa and Lesotho saying that without funds such projects will close and workers lose their jobs. He added that even domestic workers will lose their jobs once their employers get retrenched saying that Lesotho benefits from South Africa with informal employment.
