LESOTHO REVEALS AFRICA’S FIRST SUSTAINABLE TIMBER STADIUM 

Maseru. Apr. 04 — First in Africa and in Lesotho, Lesotho is to reveal a certified timber stadium in the country, the Stadium of Life which is currently under construction will hold a capacity of about 1280 spectators.

 This innovative project is driven by a collaboration between local charity and Kick4Life (K4L), non-profit organization Relationship Inspiring Social Enterprise (RISE), the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and certification body DNV, this project is a testament to the potential of sustainable construction.

The stadium is a multi-purpose hub designed for climate change education, gender empowerment, academic tutoring, health testing and entrepreneurship training, said Mr. Motlatsi Nkhahle, the Country Director of K4L. 

He also added that the Stadium of Life fosters a connection between football and the environment.
