Maseru, August 11 — The Area Chief of Koalabata, Chieftainess ‘Makhomo Makoanyane has applauded members of her community for their vigilance and cooperation which she says have contributed to a notable decline in crime during this year’s winter season.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Monday, Chieftainess Makoanyane expressed her appreciation for the community’s collective efforts in improving safety and security.
She explained that winter in Koalabata is usually associated with an increase in criminal activities due to extended hours of darkness and earlier sunsets, which often create favourable conditions for criminals to operate undetected.
She mentioned that, this time of the year sees a rise in reports of housebreaking, theft and other forms of crime as it gets dark earlier and people are less active outdoors however, this winter has been different as reported cases of crime have significantly decreased and this is a clear indication that the safety measures that have been put in place are working…NT/BM
