Mohale’s Hoek, Mar. 12 — The Lesotho Red Cross Society (LRCS) ) has held a meeting with the District Disaster Management Team (DDMT) with the purpose of introducing the Psycho-Social Support programme, (PSS) courtesy of UNFPA.
According to LRCS’ s Divisional Secretary, Mr. Maphoma Mosaola, the 3 weeks programme is intended to offer support to some food insecure families as well as supply them with dignity kits consisting of health essentials, while getting information regarding challenges brought about by various relief programmes aimed at improving their lives.
Mr. Mosaola indicated that this follows a discovery made by LRCS during the Forecast Based Financing (FBF) project, that they frequently come across similar faces as beneficiaries, hence the need to offer psycho-social support, to find out if there are any underlying problems leading to communities not graduating even after being assisted with food packages, cash or agricultural inputs.
He further stated that the gatherings will be held in Qhoasing, Thibella, Boritsa, Tlhabeli and Kori and beneficiaries including child headed ones will freely talk about other issues surrounding their daily lives, noting about 3075 vulnerable people will get the PSS support, with 1025 being those who are at the child bearing stage.
