Botha-Bothe, Dec. 17 — The Councilor for Makopo, Seetsanyana Moleko, will this coming Sunday host an athletic sports event for elderly residents from villages within his council. This initiative aims to promote healthy living and bring joy to senior citizens.
In an interview with the Lesotho News Agency, Councilor Moleko highlighted the often-overlooked challenges faced by the elderly, emphasizing their vital role in raising grandchildren in the absence of parents.
“I have planned four categories, two for women and two for men for participants aged 60 to 69. This age group is particularly vulnerable to chronic illnesses, so I want to show them the importance of a healthy lifestyle through this event,” he said.
Councilor Moleko explained that participants will receive breakfast in the morning, and lunch will be served after the activities. Winners will receive monetary prizes, although the specific amounts are yet to be finalized.
