Mafeteng, July 26 — A 59 years old Peterose Mothibi of Thabana Morena Maralleng, Tsoeneng together with his wife Mateboho Mothibi have appeared before the Mafeteng Magistrate Court for contravention of section 9(1) of Sexual Offense Act of No. 3 of 2003.
According to the charge sheet the convict who is reported to be the grandfather to the 15 years old minor of Taung in early January 2022 intentionally, wrongfully and unlawfully decided to sexually abuse the complainant during the absence of his wife.
It stated that the convict started to sexually abuse the complainant who is a double orphaned child in January 2022 following the death of her parents in 2019 until July this year after she was sent to stay with his grandparents at Thabana Morena.
It showed that the first time the convict found the complainant sleeping during the day while his wife was out and removed the blanket that the complainant was covering herself with to make her feel comfortable without saying any word the convict removed the clothes including private one and put his pennis into the vagina of the manor, threatening her that if he could try to tell anyone about the issue he is going to expel her at his home.
It indicated that the grandmother who is a convict number tried to warn her husband telling him that he is committing a crime without reporting the matter to anyone in the village. The husband got angry with the wife but did not stop the act until the complainant told one of her friends in the village who reported the matter to her mother who then took it to the Area Chief then to Thabana Morena Police hence his conviction.
The case is before Magistrate Mathabo Kopung and it is prosecuted by Crown Counsel ‘Mathuto Ts’enoli
Police investigations regarding the matter are not yet complete and both the convicts are expected to report back to the Mafeteng Magistrate Court for second remand on August 01, 2023 .
