Leribe, Jan. 14 –The Senior Field Officer Department of Bureau of Statistics in Leribe says the urban communities are reluctant to give out household information during any form of exercise by government through different ministries thus prohibiting accuracy of information to be attained for the development of the communities.
This, Mr. Ramabele Lekoatsa highlighted at the public gathering held at Matukeng in Leribe on Wednesday, saying in this regard Population and Housing Census is not an exception.
He said some community members due to lack of understanding and knowledge in regard to collection of data. especially in the urban areas expel the government employees sent to their houses to collect their household data.
In order to avoid this, he said for the forthcoming 2026 Population and Housing Census, Matukeng community should seek identity validation from the government employees who will be going door to door in conducting the census.
Moreover, Lekoatsa clarified that the data collected helps the government in planning for activities and services for the communities, citing Food Distribution administered by Disaster Management Authority (DMA), whereby vulnerable beneficiaries receive food grains hence they comply…
