MINISTRY AIMS AT IMPROVED HEALTH SERVICES

Maseru, Jan. 15 — The Ministry of Health has on Wednesday with the support of its development partners held a meeting to ensure that the two health donor projects which are currently running in Lesotho towards the eradication of HIV/AIDS align with the programmes which the ministry is already running.

The two programmes Sustaining Epidemic Control through Unified Prevention (SECURE) and the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Project Workplans are reported to be sponsored by the UNAID and Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) compact II with US 75 million and USD 34 million respectively.

In his remarks, the Minister of Health Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane said that this meeting will lead into ensuring that there is no duplication of efforts and will also lead into ensuring for the proper implementation of the aforementioned projects.

He stated that it is therefore important for the ministry of health to ensure that there is proper donor coordination as well accountability which will see that the nation has access to improved health services.
