Mohale’s Hoek, Aug.16 — The member of Parliament for Mohale’s Hoek No:61 MP Sizakele Glude Mdlokovana, has reached an agreement with villagers from Ha- ‘Mapotsane to engage in block farming in the up-coming summer cropping season.
Mr. Mdlokovana who asserted that this would be his first experience in block farming, stated that the country is faced with food insecurity which might not change anytime soon unless Basotho join hands in fight against hunger, which the latter noted it is doing extremely well in the Northern region of the country.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition’s District Crop Officer Mr. Moeketsi Tohlang stated that Block Farming initiative has been established by the Ministry after realizing that Basotho are no longer farming their lands due to various reasons, one of them being the high cost of seedlings and manure, leading to those lands remaining fallow. . .
