MY SKIN COLOR CHANGED TO REDDISH AS I FIGHT TB – ITUMELENG

Maseru, Apr. 07 — In a remarkable tale of resilience, a 26 year-old Itumeleng Martins from Mazenod has defied the odds to emerge victorious against Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

Martins, who was diagnosed with the MDR-TB in 2019, recalls the initial shock of the diagnosis.

”I could not believe that one day I would have survived the sickness, I noticed a change in my body, a reddish hue to my skin, I experienced hair loss and underwent other body changes,” she said.

Despite facing numerous challenges including physical transformation and societal discrimination, Martins remained steadfast in her commitment to overcome the illness, she made a solemn vow to continue her TB treatment.
