Maseru, Apr. 06 — In a significant move aimed at combating Tuberculosis (TB) infection, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Chief Justice Nthomeng Majara has unveiled educational materials designed to empower patients with knowledge about TB and motivate them to initiate and complete treatment upon diagnosis.
The launch, which took place in Maseru on Saturday, coincided with TB Day and featured a comprehensive array of topics within the aid material. These topics encompass TB disease, TB infection, tuberculin skin testing, TB contact investigation, TB and HIV coinfection, and TB medication.
Chief Justice Majara noted the pivotal role of these TB materials in fostering provider-patient interactions to facilitate active learning throughout the testing and treatment decision-making process.
Highlighting the socioeconomic factors exacerbating TB prevalence, Chief Justice Majara stressed poverty, hunger, malnutrition, and substance abuse, particularly among individuals aged 15 to 35 years.
