Berea, May 21 — Limited access to clean water will soon become history at Ha Mpusi village in Beres district after the official introduction of the contractor to undertake the rural water supply project aimed to target 93 households on Wednesday this week.
This was disclosed by Masaleng Electoral Division (ED) Community Councilor, Mr. Thibello Kanei during an interview with the Agency on Monday.
Mr. Kanei said the resumption of the project marks yet another milestone of community development in Masaleng ED aimed to respond to the long standing water crisis faced by Ha Mpusi village.
He highlighted that Ha Mpusi is among the marginalized villages lacking many services, but the upcoming project forms part of community development aimed to enhance sustainable water supply.
He added that the project is also intended to enhance hygiene practices and to improve people’s wellbeing by cutting short the long distances which they travel in search of drinking water.
He pointed out that such a rural water supply project is also scheduled to benefit the local school of Khabasheane primary as part of promoting learning efficiency of pupils.
However, Mr. Kanei said poor access to various places of Masaleng still remain a crucial challenge as a result of badly damaged access roads either coming from the side of Sefikeng and Ha Matholoana.
Apart from the upcoming Ha Mpusi rural water supply project, Masaleng recently welcomed a rural electrification project set to benefit 800 households.
Ha Mpusi village is situated within Motanasela Community Council at Ts’oana-Makhulo constituency.
