PM CELEBRATES 2nd CHARITY EVENT

Maseru, Dec. 06 — At least 30 vulnerable homes of the elderly, orphaned children, centres of disability and vulnerable individuals were given donations as per their requests from the Prime Minister at the Christmas charity event that was held at the state house in Maseru on Friday.

This event has been made possible by the pledge that the Prime Minister made upon resuming office as PM that he will give his salary to assist in all areas of the vulnerable across the country.

While handing over the gifts, the Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane said that this initiative comes after a declaration that he made during his campaigning period during the general elections.

He stated that this shall be an annual event which is aimed at making a difference in the lives of the vulnerable.

Mr. Matekane however mentioned that the remaining years as Prime Minister all his salary will be diverted into such donations.

Meanwhile, the Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Ms. Moleboheng Mokobocho said that the donations are being made as per the request of each centre.

Ms. Mokobocho further explained that the donations respectively come in terms of food donations, electric appliances, furniture, school fees, water and electricity bills to mention but a few.

On behalf of the beneficiaries Ms. Mpinane Hlalele said that as a centres this is the first time they have experienced such as only they have got in the previous regimes has been promised.

She mentioned that the donations will help with easing the lives of their people within the centres and homes.

This year, the Prime Minister’s donation from his annual salary is estimated at M660 000 while last year it was estimated at M600 000 which was collected from November.

Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane as the leader of Revolution For Prosperity (RFP) resumed office as Prime Minister of Lesotho in November, 2022.
