PUBLIC URGED TO PLANT TREES

Maseru, Jan. 18 — Members of the public are urged to plant trees where they are destroyed and cut to combat land degradation. This was said by the Senior Forestry Officer in the Ministry of  Environment and Forestry Mr. Mohlalefi Sethunya in an interview with the Agency, saying the Ministry is faced with a challenge of people who burn grass and destroy trees.

He indicated that the Department of Range in the Ministry is working cooperatively with the Police and Forest Rangers to educate the public in villages about the importance of trees.

He mentioned that trees promote ecotourism, prevent gas pollution and soil erosion, provide wood and protect the environment. . .
