QACHA’S NEK RECEIVES FOOD DONATION

Qacha’s Nek, Oct.30 — The District Disaster Management Authority (DMA), Disaster Manager, Mrs.’Mats’itso Motemekoane says Qacha’sNek has received 17 metric tons of wheat and 37 metric tons of rice.

17 metric tons is equivalent to 18882 kg while 37 metric tons is equivalent to 37782 kg.

In an interview with the Agency, Mrs. Motemekoane said the food will be allocated to twelve distribution points including all those in Urban council, part of Tsoelikana and Qanya council namely Kampong, Makhalong, Mosaqane, Mpiti, Mosuoe, Auplasi, Thabachitja, Ha Noosi, Maboloka, Makanyane, Mphahama and Kolo-la-ts’oene amongst others.

“This is because Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) revealed that people living in urban areas in the mountains are severely affected by food insecurity,” she said.

She said their recent Lesotho Vulnerability Assessment Committee (LVAC) revealed that over 5000 people are food insecure in the district. . .
